It’s a new year and this week our team started conversations about what our charitable giving might look like in 2024. These conversations naturally made us think back to the different organizations and charities that we supported during 2023. A year filled with highs and lows; the importance of giving back has never been so important and meaningful as it is now. Over the course of 2023, GetInsured donated to organizations such as:
- St Jude Children’s Research Hospital Inc
- Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula
- Atlanta Community Food Bank
- Feed More Inc
- American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
- American Lung Association
This year the company also continued its ongoing partnership with the non-profit organization RIP Medical Debt, purchasing and eliminating more than $1 million in medical debt burdening more than 550 residents of Georgia. This donation marked the eighth gift, bringing the total amount relieved by GetInsured to more than $11.7 million, benefiting 8,188 recipients across the nation.
At GetInsured, our primary goal is to ensure as many Americans as possible have access to affordable health care. By joining forces with RIP Medical Debt, we aim to alleviate the financial barriers that prevent individuals from receiving the health care they need.
In the wake of months of economic uncertainty and rising inflation rates, many Americans are experiencing heightened levels of financial insecurity and stress. A survey conducted by GetInsured uncovered that medical bills have had the greatest impact on respondents’ ability to pay for essential goods, such as food and groceries, and their rent or mortgage payments. (This is one of many reasons the company also supports local food banks.) Notably, emergencies and medical services accounted for over a quarter of respondents’ medical debt, illustrating the financial hardships faced by those grappling with unforeseen health care needs.
Through initiatives like RIP Medial debt and our other forms of charitable giving, GetInsured aims to address the pressing issue of medical debt, its downstream implications, and other community needs. We strive to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals across the nation, throughout the year, one step at a time.
