Mountain View, Calif. – Oct. 9, 2018  –  Minnesota’s health insurance exchange, known as MNsure, launched new decision support tools from GetInsured, a health insurance and e-commerce technology company, to help Minnesotans find better health insurance that matches both their budget and their individual healthcare needs.  Minnesotans will be able to select their new plans for 2019 during the upcoming Open Enrollment period, which begins November 1st and runs through January 13, 2019.

The decision support launch is the first step in a larger transition to a full deployment of the GetInsured individual shopping and enrollment platform in Minnesota.  The new platform uses a series of questions to make the process simpler for consumers to find the right plan.  Consumers can input data such as how many prescriptions they take, or how many times they visit the doctor to find the best plan based on their needs.  Minnesotans can also find their prescription drugs to ensure they are covered by their chosen plan.  The GetInsured tool allows consumers to search for both brand name and generic drugs.

“In light of changing laws and fluctuating health coverage requirements, finding the right health insurance plan has never been more complicated,” said Chini Krishnan, CEO and co-founder of GetInsured. “There needs to be a better understanding of all aspects of health insurance, from terminology to premiums.  Since GetInsured was founded, our mission has always been to help as many people enroll in health insurance as possible, and it is excellent to see Minnesotans benefitting from our technology.”

“We are looking forward to building upon our record-setting open enrollment in 2018,” said Nate Clark, chief executive officer of MNsure.  “Statewide premiums are down, we have been able to extend our open enrollment period, and with the help of GetInsured, we are now able to make plan selection easier and more helpful for consumers.  Leveraging GetInsured’s considerable experience working with state-based marketplaces, we were able to incorporate helpful tools for consumers into our platform seamlessly and efficiently.”

GetInsured decision support tools have already been deployed in several states across the country including California, Connecticut, Idaho, Washington State, and most recently, Nevada, which will go live in Fall 2019.  In fact, this announcement comes after GetInsured was awarded a contract to fully power Nevada’s state’s health insurance exchange as it transitions off of the Federally Facilitated Marketplace to a State-Based Marketplace.
